Frank Zappa famously went in and ‘fixed’ tracks, even adding instruments to some Mothers of Invention tracks. How would Lenny Bruce would fare today I wonder? I was making an observation about the original recording, that Lennon wanted the song recorded and out in the shop on the same day, that he didn’t bother going back and correcting the odd error. In 2020, a white man using the n-word is out of the question. I had a load of issues and frustration with the Imagine box set when that was released. Do you know which approaches being taken here? The songs were completely remixed from scratch, using brand new transfers of the original multi-tracks, cleaned up to the highest possible sonic quality. SOME TIME IN NEW YORK CITY has always been a favourite JL album despite the critics hatred of it – it has a similar uncompromising directness and blunt, uncomfortable truth-telling as PLASTIC ONO BAND. I bought a couple of Audio-Technica AAT-LP120USBHCBK turntables from amazon and they’re great – not cheap but not too expensive either. I’ve always hated the original mix with all the slap echo and stuff. The CD/Bluray set doesn’t. The Movie argument does not wash either, as even in 5.1 I would say that in film land probably at least 50% if not much more are upmixes (check out the Penteo Surround website & see how many well known films there are which are not discrete but upmixes) so with Atmos, given there are 3 Atmos rooms in the UK – period – the ratio of discrete to upmix is probably nearer to 90%. 17 Out The Blue (Ultimate Mix) All I want is the truth, now I need this one without dents and bruises. (I do love Yoko’s early solo work so I’m certainly not a Yoko hater but she does know how to milk her ex’s catalogue. I'm sick to death of seeing things As great as this release sounds, by comparison, this lets air about halfway out of the balloon. Must admit i really enjoying buying deluxe editions & at times best of albums in 5.1 surround sound & reading all the comments above.

I said the same thing on here about the Tears For Fears – Sowing The Seeds box set. This to me is one of the best “rock” sites of all time. Was hoping for an Anthology Bly ray seeing as it’s 25 years but they would need to go back to the source material and edit it together again as the TV and dvd versions are quite lo-res.
