On to Fort Sam in San Antonio, then time with the old Sixth Army at Fort Ord in Monterey, then on to I-Corps and II Corps and Nha Trang in 1970 and 1971. “Discontinued Basic Training”? Heck, stopping was never an option.

The picture indicates you were in D-19-5 at Fort Knox in 1969. They no longer are a big Armor unit and discontinued basic training many years ago We had the M14s until our 5th week and changed to the M16s. Heartbreak was in there…maybe that was the climb up the wrong mountain…. Our daughter is about to move to Louisville – hopefully one of these days when we visit her I’ll be able to go back to Ft. Knox.
