Reader’s Review . For the first 5000 years (and it felt like 10000), I don't think this caused me to miss any details important to the story.
The last section was so short compared to the first two, that it just felt like escapist “future apocalypse” sci fi, and radically different in pacing and tone from the hard, near-future storytelling of the first four-fifths of the book.
Which isn't to say it's dull, it's just ... different.
Being the last of a long series of books by a revered author, I conclude Stephenson fell into the trapping in which many a famous author, director, and artist have unfortunately fallen, and in which his editor willingly followed him: the ego trip.

But I was turning three and more pages at a time. The great thing about a good Stephenson book is it makes you think about the future in new ways, and this book was no exception. It represents a landmark in revival of old themes of science fiction from the Golden Age of the 40s and 50s, which had hallmarks of inspiring a sense of wonder and of extolling human technological capacities and can-do spirit sufficient to break out of our fragile planetary prison.
This follows a young man who begins shrinking in size after playing a strange board game, which goes largely unnoticed by his parents. It's minorly in the deciding of which few among the multitudes are going to be flung up into space in tin cans in an attempt to weather the apocalypse, but more in the ability of a scrappy, over-smart maker society to mobilize the entire earth in an effort to fling those tin cans skyward.

I did. I had never read the works of this author and did like the story outline. Seveneves Audiobook is a popular Science Fiction Novel Written by Neal Stephenson. I love Stephenson - and this was another hit - absolutely loved it.
But then, this is a Neal Stephenson book (a modern Stephenson book, meaning post-Snow Crash/Diamond Age and, therefore, kind of post-fun) which means that the world as presented, moon or no moon, isn't really the same as ours anyway. In Seveneves (the first 2/3 of the novel), Stephenson combines nice storytelling with a hard science bend in a way which is u. Neal Stephenson’s Seveneves is impressive!
