Even diehard fan Bill Clinton was in attendance. Nicks and Buckingham joined Fleetwood Mac in January 1975, after Mick Fleetwood heard their song 'Frozen Love'. In 1975, the new line-up released another self-titled album, their tenth studio album. By the time they returned to stages as Buckingham Nicks, the two were lovers as well as musical confidants. Eventually, though, she turned things around for herself and came out of rehab completely sober. Stevie Nicks and Lindsey Buckingham began dating in the late 1960s, but had broken up by the time Fleetwood Mac worked on 'Rumours'. Unsurprisingly, they divorced for a second time. Together, the couple joined Fleetwood Mac in 1975. Another factor came into play when the band aired the entire record on Westwood One radio. However, the extent of her strange ways can be seen in her many years of touring.
For example, Lindsey Buckingham wrote the following line for “Second Hand News:” “One thing I think you should know, I ain’t gonna miss you when you go.” The line was obviously aimed at Stevie Nicks. And to think, Buckingham had expressed initial reservations about joining Fleetwood Mac, mainly because he wasn't sure about subsuming his own outsized personality into the larger group dynamic. At one point, Henley is thought to have wanted to marry Nicks, but they broke up by the 1980s. Despite having personal issues, they decided to stay professional for the greater good of the band. After Lindsey Buckingham told Mick, “Well, things don’t seem to be going exactly the way I would like them to go,” Fleetwood simply said, “Well, maybe you don’t want to be in a group.” It made sense that the album was called Rumours.
Arguably more of a soap opera than a band, Fleetwood Mac took the Rock n’ Roll lifestyle to a new level back in the 70s. They were both still in the band and Christine moved onto the band’s lighting director, Curry Grant. Christine certainly learned a lot from that relationship.
Amazingly, Stevie continued her self-destructive ways.
